Job title: Technical Consultant

We are seeking an excellent communicator with strong telephone customer facing skills. You must possess strong organisational skills and have experience of both project management and working as a part of a large project. At times it can be a high pressure industry, experience of working under pressure with acute time scales is essential. With a practical mind set and strong problem solving skills.

The Role:

As a provider of IT services to SME’s and small ISP, we are looking for someone to primarily support the hosting services we offer and connectivity services. The individual will also be required to work with customers on a host of other faults covering a wide spectrum of technologies including Microsoft desktop and server platforms. You will work both with customers on site and over the telephone and provide services to the rest of the business.

Required Skills:

A strong knowledge of the Linux platform is essential, knowledge of Linux in a hosting environment would be ideal. Knowledge of the following software packages would be beneficial-:

  • Postfix with Mailscanner, spamassisin and clamav
  • Centos
  • Apache, php, mysql
  • Virtualmin
  • Proxmox and openvz
  • Bind – unxsbind
  • Qmail and vpopmail
  • Nagios, cacti and groundworks
  • Web hosting, Email hosting DNS hosting, hosted services

Windows and Microsoft – an understanding of the following

  • Server 2000/03/08
  • Small business server 2000/03/08
  • Exchange
  • AD
  • Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7

Networking – an understanding of the following.

  • WiFi 2.4/5Ghz
  • Routing
  • Vlan
  • Firewall
  • Cisco/ Draytek
  • VPN

Project Management and planning

  • Experience of project planning and management

This role would suit a graduate with a minimum of 2 – 3 years relevant commercial experience, industry specific qualifications will be beneficial, however, not essential.

The successful candidate must have a valid UK driving licence.
